How to make sales fast

For many businesses their thoughts about how to increase sales happen when things start to slow. However, for all businesses to maintain or increase sales there needs to be constant and consistent activity happening all the time.

A business will only survive if it is focused on getting and keeping customers day after day and week after week. The objectives may be different – it may be to keep afloat, it may be to grow or it may be to increase profits.

The secret lies in how to make it happen effectively and strategically — and quickly!

If you start trying to generate more sales when times are tough. When you are starting to panic. When you are wondering how you are going to pay your bills. You will often end up trying anything out of desperation –  just throwing mud against the wall and hoping it sticks.

So what is the answer?

What are some quick wins?

There are hundreds of lead-generating tactics, or activities, for every business and every industry, but these are my top three that are proven to work quickly and at very little cost:

  • Talk to your customers. I would bet most of you have a customer database that can provide a goldmine of either repeat business or upsells or cross sells. Print-out your database and ring up your customers. Simply check in with your previous customers, ask how they are doing, and if you could help. This simple act can easily get you sales, or at least requests for new quotes.

  • Reactivate cold enquiries. You will no doubt have names of people who have enquired recently but not bought or not replied to your quote. Send them a quick email asking if they are still interested in whatever it is you do – I guarantee some of them will be and will get you instant sales.

  • Incentives and rewards. Almost any business can create an incentive or reward programme that encourages more business. This can be as simple as a repeat purchase card, to offer a reward once the card is complete. Or what about a referral programme? Use custom cards printed with the customer’s name for them to give to friends, family and acquaintances. The cards identify the new customers as referrals and which of your customer made the referral. Make sure your existing customer is rewarded for the referral as well as something being offered to the new customer.

The real secret to more sales is to be continually and consistently communicating and marketing your business.
